Street Fighter II: Miyagase Run

Japanese local Soma-san and I (aka Kuri-san) blast through city and mountain roads to Miyagase Dam in Kanagawa, Japan.  Armed with Soma's kitted Malossi Honda MB5 and my Gila Puch Maxi, we make our way to a popular gathering spot for modified bikes and cars.  Enjoy the journey:

Two-Stroke Carb Tuning

Fun or Frustrating?

A necessity of 'two-strokin' is carburetor tuning.  There are many ways to tune a carb.  Whether it be trial and error, smelling (or even tasting) the exhaust smoke, or using the "Force", most experienced tuners developed their own methods that works for them.  For me, I use a similar method from a post I found where it breaks down the two-stroke jetting process.  Probably many of you already read it but I think its worth posting cause it's a good start for a novice in developing their own method of tuning:

Future Meltdown Prevention

Cool but not so cool
To prevent future meltdowns of my Powerdynamo stator coil, I wanted to provide air cooling/circulation in the magneto compartment.  I didn't what to simply run the motor without the magneto cover because it would expose the magneto to outside elements.  I also prefer the overall look of the motor with the cover on.

Gadabout Fairing

I ordered a brand new Gadabout Fairing a while back from Yahoo Auction Japan but never got around install it until now (since the meltdown).  It's a little wider than the ones I have on my Puchs back home.  I prefer the fit on those than this one.  The narrower version is very hard to find.  I think they are original Gadabouts?  This one is probably a Chinese knock-off but it was cheap with a brand new tinted plastic shield:

Puch First Run: Pre-Tune

I took my Maxi out for a spin with the new Tecno Estoril performance pipe.  Needs a lot of tuning.  Bogs down at low-end.  Also, notice in the video my clutches up and down shifting.  A little too much.  Back to the garage for more tuning:

How would you tune my Maxi?  Leave a comment.  I would be happy to hear what you think.

Puch Tecno Estoril Performance Pipe

My first order of business this spring was to install a Tecno Estoril performance pipe (de-restricted version) on to my Gila kit.  This pipe is made for "flat" type exhaust port cylinders such as the Polini kit vice "angle" ports found on Gilas or Metra kits.

More shiny = More fun?

Spring is finally here...

Tokyo, Japan
Sakura (cherry blossoms) blooming is a sign that Spring is finally here in Japan.  The locals say:

春たけなわ
(Haru Takenawa = Spring is here)

In my case, it signals the end of one addiction (snowboarding) and the beginning of my primary one:

TWO-STROKIN'!!!
